A wierd day

Some pictures of the thing:

And a video

Today is proving to be a wierd sort of day, caused mainly be the bizarre sleep pattern brought about by the bus trips yesterday. I woke up at about midday and don't really feel like my brain has turned on since then, which is a bit annoying.

Worst thing is that my mouth/throat both feels rather dodgy.. it's like I'm parched and can't quench the thirst. My legs are a bit wierd too, from sitting on the bus for ages.. I had swollen ankles last night.. that makes me feel old.

I had a conversation with my friend Graham about the job interview I have tomorrow. It's at a web design place.. I was looking at their site earlier and it turns out it's exactly the type of site design that I don't like. Too much Flash preventing anyone from actually getting to the useful content of the site. That was pretty much the subject of my conversation with Graham.

Personally, I feel that Flash can be great when the Flash content is (or part of) what the viewers will actually be looking for. Examples of this are Weebl and Bob and the Requiem for a Dream website.

Flash isn't such a great idea when the actual useful content of your site has nothing to do with Flash, in which case Flash only serves to create a layer of abstraction between the site and the user, preventing the user from navigating your site the way they want to. Examples of this are far too numerous to mention, unfortunately, but good examples are the websites of John Cleese and JK Rowling. Not only is navigating through sites like this a pain, but it negatively impacts the possible potential of a website: search engines have their jobs cut out, and people can't link one-another to specific things.

So yeah.. aside from that I've read through my girlfriend's dissertation work so far, which is reading really well (good luck honey).. and I've recieved a few guest comics from people for next week. They're awesome.

I leave you with this, by John Aggs
